Camilla Stacey
I am an artist, curator and facilitator based in Penryn, Cornwall.
I am interested in creating networks between people, using skill sharing to bring communities together. My own practice as an artist and curator is strongly collaborative and crafts based. In 2015 I founded MakeStuff/DrinkStuff, a workshop series to share creative skills, and In 2015 I co-founded W.A.N.K. (Women’s Art Network Kernow) with Rose Hatcher. In 2003 I co-founded ‘here’ shop and gallery in Bristol, which I managed for 5 years. I currently share studio space at Old Bank Studios, Penryn.
Other projects I am working on include:
'The Frozen North/100 icebergs' - an examination of my obsession with the idea of The North.
'Weaving memories'- an exploration of my family history that includes basket makers/sellers on both sides and my belief that this skill lives in my DNA.
‘Penryn Makers Directory’- I am gathering information about makers and skills found within Penryn parish boundary. This information will form the basis of a handmade book, representing a ‘time capsule’ of Penryn in late 2017, which will be given to the town museum.
